The Land’s End to John o’Groats run took place from July 4 to July 10, 2016.
Someone out there will know when the last major event for Classic BMW’s-only took place. I’ve searched through lots of material and still haven’t found a single event in the U.K. So this, like The Airhead itself, was unique and something that was so successful simply because so many Airhead-lovers contributed in some measure.
The whole emphasis was on enjoyment, not endurance: 200 miles a day wasn't too taxing on anyone and the routes have been created using local knowledge from the membership to create the very best biking routes. Instead of the 850 or so miles it normally takes to get from one end of the U.K. to the other we rode more than 1300 miles - and enjoyed every one of them.
The BMWAF is not a club. We're a group of individuals with a common interest. But sometimes that common interest can create something magical. And that's just what the 2016 End to End Run became. Great bikes, great company and great weather all came together to create a truly marvellous event - one which is, I hope, the first of many.
P.S. - I lied about the weather!!!!
